ResMed AirSense 10: how to read the operating hours

The operating hours are one of the most important figures when buying or selling a used AirSense 10. Here is how to find the value on the device – without touching the therapy settings.

In 2018 he led research & development of a turbine-driven surgical ventilator, from concept and engineering prototype to technical documentation and the CE conformity process. At Desstronic he tests used CPAP and BiPAP devices: pressure and flow measurement, noise and vibration checks, device documentation.

Step by step

  • Switch the device on and wait until the home screen appears.
  • Turn the dial until “Sleep Report” is highlighted, then press the dial.
  • Read the total usage value (on German-market devices “Gesamtnutzung”, often shortened to “Gesamtnutzg”). If it is not visible straight away, turn the dial further down.
  • Press the Home button (house symbol) to return to the home screen.

These steps follow ResMed Healthcare's quick guide for the 10 series (AirSense 10, AirCurve 10, AirStart 10). According to the user guide, the total usage display is available in Germany; menu wording on devices for other markets may differ.

Which hours are which?

  • Usage hours in the Sleep Report: duration of the last therapy session.
  • Total usage: the total recorded operating hours of the device.
  • Motor hours: the blower is a wear part. After approx. 23,000 motor operating hours the AirSense 10 shows a notice to replace the motor.

What does “new motor” mean in our offers?

If a Desstronic device says “new motor” in the title, the blower has been replaced with a new one. The stated operating hours are still those of the device: the counter is not reset when the motor is replaced. This lets you compare offers honestly – see the devices in our CPAP category.

Important: do not change therapy settings

You do not need to change any settings to read the operating hours. Pressure and therapy parameters are set by your doctor or provider – more in CPAP pressure: what the values mean.

Have your device checked

Want to know the condition of the blower, humidifier and pressure generation of your device? You can have it technically checked through our CPAP service.
